The neck is one of the parts of the body that most frequently can be affected by disorders and pathologies. Cervical pain, torticollis, cervicobrachialgia are just some of the most common diseases that can cause pain, difficulty in movement, stiffness, tingling and numbness. Faced with these symptoms, people often take refuge in remedies or precautions linked to false myths and popular beliefs that have no scientific basis. Let's see the main ones.

Lifestyle
Let's start with the causes. Many people believe that stress and lifestyle in general have nothing to do with neck pain. Wrong. Anxiety and nervousness can contribute to the development of cervicalgia. Difficult times in our lives, in fact, have an impact not only on our minds, but also on our bodies. In these situations, the posture becomes rigid and especially the muscles of the shoulders contract upwards, assuming a position that, maintained for a long time, can lead to the development of pathologies in the neck.

Smartphone and tablet
The extended use of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets that force us to keep our heads bowed and shoulders rigid, causing discomfort in this region of the body, also contribute to the onset of these illnesses. The use of certain shoes is also harmful to our neck. Wearing shoes with heels that are too high, for example, leads to neck pain, spinal column and, of course, ankles and feet.

Wet hair
Completely false instead is the popular belief that going out with wet hair causes neck pain. Going out without drying your hair out well is certainly a bad habit, but if a person is healthy and does not suffer from particular disorders, he can rest easy. The problem, on the other hand, occurs if a person with wet hair is already having problems that can be accentuated by a temperature change or an airstroke.

Movement
False beliefs, however, do not only concern the causes but also the remedies for these diseases. Those who suffer from stiff neck, for example, are convinced that it is best to move the head as little as possible. In reality, this is not only false, but also counterproductive. Staying still, in fact, reduces pain at the moment, but increases muscle stiffness and therefore suffering. The right thing is to try to make small controlled movements, obviously always having first consulted a specialist to understand which are the ones to do.

Sport
Then there are those who take refuge in swimming believing that it is the cure for all ills, including cervical ones. This discipline is certainly one of the most beneficial from the muscular point of view, but in case of neck pains it is good to recur, at least initially, to more targeted sports such as corrective gymnastics.

Magnetotherapy
Magnetotherapy, on the other hand, is recommended. Thanks to their anti-inflammatory and analgesic action, magnetic waves are ideal for pathologies that affect the neck area, such as torticollis, promoting muscle relaxation and reducing inflammation and therefore pain.
